Free Health Check-Up for Older People in Sembung Village, Badung Regency
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Sahaja Bali Foundation, in collaboration with the Peduly Bali community, organized a free health check-up for older people. The event took place at Sada Jiwa Health Care Facility, Banjar Pasekan, Sembung Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, and was attended by older people from the surrounding areas. This initiative aimed to enhance the well-being of older people by providing comprehensive healthcare services while also creating an enjoyable atmosphere through physical activities and interactive games.
Event Opening
The event began with an opening session featuring speeches from representatives of the Peduly Bali community, Sahaja Bali Foundation, and Sada Jiwa. Each speaker emphasized the importance of prioritizing the health of older people and fostering collaboration between communities to support their well-being.
Gentle Exercise Session
Following the opening session, participants engaged in a group exercise session. This activity was designed not only to promote physical fitness but also to encourage social interaction in a fun and engaging way. The exercises were carefully selected to be safe and suitable for older people, considering their physical condition.
Free Health Check-Up
After the exercise session, participants were divided into groups and took turns receiving health check-ups conducted by the medical team from Sahaja Bali Foundation.
The health assessments began with anamnesis, gathering information about existing health conditions, medical history, and medication use. A series of health screenings followed, including cognitive decline assessment, malnutrition screening, depression symptom detection, blood pressure and blood sugar level measurements, and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) measurement as an indicator of nutritional status.
To monitor physical condition, body weight and body composition were measured using a digital body fat scale monitor, which was connected to the Moving Life application. This device not only measured weight but also provided automated records of health indicators such as body fat percentage, muscle mass, and other key health parameters.
A general health examination was also conducted to assess mobility limitations, hearing impairments, and vision problems. Additionally, older people had the opportunity to consult with a doctor regarding their health concerns. After the examination, they were provided with necessary medications and vitamins tailored to their specific needs.
Interactive Activities and Games
While some participants underwent health check-ups, others took part in various interactive games led by the Peduly Bali team. These games were designed to enhance social engagement, support mental well-being, and create a joyful atmosphere throughout the event.
Closing Session
After all older people received their health check-ups and participated in the provided activities, the event concluded with a group photo session. This initiative is expected to bring real benefits in helping older people maintain their health and raising awareness of the importance of regular health check-ups.
Through the collaboration between Sahaja Bali Foundation, the Peduly Bali community, and Sada Jiwa Health Care Facility, this event served as a tangible expression of care and commitment to the health and well-being of older people. We, at Sahaja Bali Foundation, extend our deepest gratitude to the Peduly Bali community and Sada Jiwa Health Care Facility for their dedication and support, which made this event run smoothly and brought meaningful benefits to older people.
It is hoped that similar activities will continue to be held, reaching more older individuals who require attention and healthcare services.
