Sahaja Gempita: A New Program for Older People to Stay Active and Happy

In an effort to continuously improve the well-being of older people, the Sahaja Dharma Sejahtera Foundation has launched a new program called Sahaja Gempita. This program is designed to provide a space for older people to remain active, healthy, and happy by participating in various social and health-related activities. Sahaja Gempita will be held regularly and is open to older people who are already Sahaja Members.

The First Sahaja Gempita Event

The first Sahaja Gempita event was successfully held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Prodia Hall, located on Jl. Raya Puputan No.56, Denpasar. The event was attended by 18 older people who are registered as Sahaja Members. With great enthusiasm, they participated in various activities designed to enhance their physical and mental well-being while fostering connections with fellow older people.

Sahaja Membership

Sahaja Membership is open to individuals aged 50 and above, coming from diverse backgrounds, including retired civil servants, healthcare professionals, hospitality and tourism workers, and homemakers. This program serves as a form of support, ensuring that they continue to lead an active and meaningful life in their later years.

A Variety of Fun and Engaging Activities

The first Sahaja Gempita event was filled with exciting activities designed to promote health and social engagement among older people. One of the main activities was a health check-up, where participants received basic health screenings to ensure their well-being is properly monitored. Additionally, there was a group exercise session led by a physiotherapist from RSUP Prof. Ngoerah, aimed at improving fitness and flexibility. The event also featured fun games, specially designed for older people to enhance coordination, encourage social interaction, and provide entertainment.

Furthermore, a health talk session was conducted by Dr. dr. I Gusti Putu Suka Aryana, Sp.PD-KGer, offering valuable health tips for aging well. After these activities, participants enjoyed a communal lunch, providing a warm and friendly environment to socialize and share conversations. To conclude the event, a karaoke and group photo session was held, where participants sang together and captured joyful moments with fellow attendees.

Participants’ Enthusiasm and Future Hopes

The participants were delighted and highly engaged throughout the event. Many expressed their happiness and gratitude for being part of Sahaja Gempita. Some even shared their excitement about inviting more friends to join the next sessions.

Through this program, it is hoped that older people will not only gain physical benefits from the activities but also experience mental and social well-being. Sahaja Gempita provides a space for older people to feel valued, active, and supported in an encouraging environment.

This initiative will continue to be held regularly, with innovative and varied programs to keep participants motivated and engaged. Sahaja Gempita is a testament that aging can be active, healthy, and full of happiness.
