Sahaja Kelana: Community Services for Older People in Kekeran Village, Buleleng
On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Sahaja Bali Foundation once again held the Sahaja Kelana program in Kekeran Village, Busungbiu District, Buleleng Regency. The activity took place at the Kekeran Village Community Hall and served as a concrete effort to improve health and well-being for priority groups, especially older people and women of reproductive age. During the event, Sahaja Kelana successfully provided free healthcare services to 103 older people and conducted cervical and breast cancer screenings for 50 women of reproductive age.
The services provided during the event included health education for older people and their families, general medical check-ups, home visits and distribution of basic food packages for older people in need or with limited mobility, as well as IVA tests and breast screenings for women of reproductive age. All services were free of charge and open to the public.
This event was made possible through the collaboration of various stakeholders working in synergy. Support came from the team of Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists from Udayana University, the Busungbiu I Public Health Center (UPTD Puskesmas), local clinic staff (Pustu), Posyandu Lansia Healthcare Volunteers, village officials, and the active participation of Kekeran Village residents. This cross-sector collaboration is proof that concern for the health of older people and vulnerable groups can be realized through united efforts.
The flow of healthcare services during this activity began at the registration post, followed by blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checks. Afterward, participants underwent an initial examination and brief anamnesis, followed by anthropometric measurements including weight, height, Body Mass Index (BMI), and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC). Participants then received medical consultations and were given medications, vitamins, or milk according to their needs.
Through the Sahaja Kelana program, the Sahaja Bali Foundation hopes to continue serving as a healthcare bridge for communities, particularly older people and vulnerable groups living in rural areas.
The Sahaja Bali Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to all parties who supported this initiative. It is hoped that similar activities can be carried out regularly and expanded to other villages across Bali, in pursuit of creating a healthier, more independent, and prosperous older generation.
